Water Pressure data recording (logging) It is often a requirement that water pressure be accurately recorded over a 24 hour or longer period. This is generally used to establish guidelines as far as the expected water supply (flow) to a new or upgraded premises. This can also be used to isolate or pin point problems in a distribution system. One of the most common occurances of water distribution problems can be found in modern townhouse complexes. This process may be limited to the recording of a single supply pressure over 24 hours or may take the form of multiple pressure readings over a number of days. Pressure differentials can also be measured by taking a number of simultaneous readings. This can provide information as to the direction of flow within a system and isolate areas where pressure drops are occurring for some reason. Logged or recorded water pressure may be required by insurance companies to confirm an adequate pressure for fire suppression systems exists, or may be used to find faults within the buildings that are evident by high or low pressure spikes over time. Individual users may want to track their water pressure over time if they feel that the pressure supplied to them is inadequate or too high. In severe cases of "water hammer" differential pressure measurements can be used to track down the source of the hammer.
